My family of 4 is travelling Japan for 11 days in August. Our itinerary as follows
Day 1: Narita Airport to Tokyo
Day 2: Tokyo
Day 3: Tokyo
Day 4: Tokyo to Kyoto
Day 5: Kyoto
Day 6: Kyoto to Hiroshima and Hiroshima to Kyoto
Day 7: Kyoto to Osaka
Day 8: Osaka
Day 9: Osaka
Day 10: Osaka - Tokyo
Day 11: Tokyo
Day 12: Tokyo tp Narita Airport

Should I buy individual tickets or 14 day JR Pass or combination of both? Does JR pass cover all the train routes within the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka?

Thanks

Hi there,

My suggestion to make your trip as cost-effective as possible would be to purchase a 7-day JR Pass for use between day 4-10. The JR Pass can be used on the Yamanote Line in Tokyo and the Loop Line in Osaka, but if you plan on using public transport within cities I’d recommend purchasing a Suica card. This also means you’ll have to purchase the tickets between Narita and Tokyo individually, but overall this would save you money.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
