Hi,
My family & I (2 adults & 1 child aged 4 at time of travel) will be travelling to Japan in April 2014 and i have a few questions to ask regarding our itinerary & the JRpass.

We will be arriving via Narita airport on 22nd April. We will be travelling directly to Osaka where we will spend 5 nights.
We will be staying at ANA Crowne Plaza Osaka 1-3-1 Dojimahama , Kita-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 530-0004, Japan.

While in Osaka, we plan to make a day trip to Kyoto and surrounding areas.

On 27th April we will be going back to Tokyo, where we will stay agh the Hilton Tokyo 6-6-2 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku, Tokyo Prefecture 160-0023, Japan.

While in Tokyo, we plan to visit Tokyo Disney & Disney Sea. We would also like to make a trip to Mt Fuji and Hakone.

  • Can you please advise if we are able to get to all of these destinations using a JR rail pass?

Kind Regards,

Beck

Hi Beck,

Yes all these places are reachable by JR and covered by the JR Pass!

Both ANA Crowne Plaza and the Hilton Tokyo are within walk able distance from Osaka station and Shinjuku station. The Hilton is very close to Shinjuku station and 5-10 min walk. ANA Crowne Plaza is 10-15 min walk (about 1km) from Osaka station, you may want to consider taking a taxi the first time you travel there.

For your visit to the Disney resorts, take the train from Tokyo to Maibara station. You can walk from here or take the Tokyo Disney Monorail directly to the park.

For Hakone, take the bullet train to Odawara station, this is the gateway station for Hakone. The JR Pass covers the ride to Odawara, from there you can use different kinds of local transport methods to explore the area which generally are not covered by the JR Pass. If you stay for more than a day around Hakone, consider buying a Hakone Free Pass.

Hope this helps!
