Hi there,
The route from Nara to Koya-san involves 2 transfers.
First take a JR train from Nara to Shin-Imamiya station. From there take the Nankai to Gokurakubashi station, this is at the foot of Mt. Koya.
Finally, take the Koya-ropeway up to Koya-san and enjoy your time there.
