I am planning a visit to Japan and will be there for a total of 10 days. I want to spend 4 days with friends in Nagoya where I won't need to use trains. But I also want to travel to Kyoto and Osaka and maybe other places. Will getting the JR pass be cost effective given that for a period of time I'm not using trains but would have activated the pass travelling down to Nagoya from Haneda?

Hi there,

If you’re staying in Nagoya for an extended period of time it’s likely that purchasing individual tickets to Osaka etc. would be a more cost-effective option, but I’d suggest inputting your specific itinerary into our JR Fare Calculator to see if the JR Pass or an equivalent regional pass would be the best option for you.

Kind regards,

Alexis
