Daniel-san,

We think this will be our final travel itinerary for our upcoming October trip to Japan. Before we purchase our Rail Passes, please confirm that we can use the JR Rail pass to catch a Shikansan to and from all these locations. Without a rail pass, would the individual cost to purchase seperate tickets be more or less expensive. From what I have been told, since we are planning to visit multiple cities, it will definitely be cost effective to purchase a rail pass. Today's price is approximately $297 per 7 day JR Rail Pass.

Hi Mike,

The JR Pass will give you amazing savings over normal train tickets and you can ride the Shinkansen between all these places.

Tokyo - Osaka ¥ 13,550
Osaka - Hiroshima ¥ 9,750
Hiroshima - Kyoto ¥ 10,590
Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 13,020

For a total of ¥ 46910 or ¥ 18610 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is 28,300 yen.

Hope this helps!

Daniel-san,

OK, now my question is: What Train Station in Osaka will we need to go to inorder to catch the Shinkansen to Hiroshima. Just tell me which station in Osaka and I will look for a hotel that is close to that station. I've looked at different maps and sites of Osaka and they all say that the Shinsaibashi Station and Namba Station are in the center of Shopping and many other main attractions. Can we catch Shinkansen from these two stations to Hiroshima? I'm good with Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto. It's only Osaka where I don't have a clue.

Hi Mike!

All shinkansen from Osaka depart at Shin-Osaka station. This unfortunately is not very close to either Namba or Shinsai bashi. However the area around Shin Osaka is pretty boring so I would not recommend staying there.

You can reach Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto by Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka.

Daniel-san,

We will depart from Tokyo Station on Wednesday, October 23, on a JR Rail Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka since you have informed me that all Shinkansen go to that station. Then will we be able to transfer from Shin-Osaka via a JR Rail to our hotel which will more than likely be in Umeda and close to the Umeda Rail Station.

Hi Mike!

Osaka station is also knows as Umeda and is a pretty good stop to stay the night. Once arrive at Shin-Osaka station take a local train to Osaka station and you can probably walk from there!

Enjoy!
Daniel
