Hi! We are a family of four, two children (9 and 12 years old) and two adults. We have the following schedule for our travel:
09Feb Narita Airport - Tokyo
11Feb Tokyo-Osaka
Osaka-Kyoto-Osaka in-between
15Feb Osaka -Tokyo Narita City
16Feb Narita city to Narita airport
Is it cheeper to buy normal tickets for us or does the JR pass suit us?
Best wishes,
Catherine
Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo
Hi Catherine,
A JR Pass would certainly help you make savings,
I made a little list of normal ticket prices below to give you an idea of possible savings.
Narita Airport - Tokyo ¥ 3,140
Tokyo - Osaka ¥ 13,950
Osaka - Kyoto ¥ 1040 (return)
Osaka - Narita City ¥ 16,840
Narita City - Narita Airport ¥ 230
For a total of ¥ 35,200 or **¥ 6,900 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 28,300. You can also use the JR Pass on local JR lines in both Tokyo and Osaka, which cover most of most cities, potentially adding even more to your savings!
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Note that children below the age of 12 are pay half price, for normal tickets but also for the JR Pass.
