Hi Frances,

I would recommend going for the 7 Day JR Pass in addition to a [Keisei Skylinter one way + Metro ticket] for your arrival. The Keisei liner takes you directly from Narita Airport to Ueno and also includes an all day metro ticket.

Then you can use the 7 day JR Pass for the rest of your travel days, including your return to Narita Airport.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply, that really helps a lot on our planning.

However, as you mentioned the JR Pass will cover us the fare on the last day to return Narita Airport, can you give us more details on how to use to pass to go back Narita from Ueno area?

Besides of that , if we are going from Kyoto to Hakona, is taking Shinkansen to Odawara the easiest or you have any better suggestions?

Certainly! Going from Ueno - Narita is not very hard, first go to Ueno station and take the Yamanote line to Tokyo station, from Tokyo you can use the Narita Express to Narita Airport.

As for travel from Kyoto - Hakone, taking the Shinkansen to Odawara is by far the quickest and easiest way to get there.
