Hi,

My Husband and I will be visiting Japan in May, firstly staying in Tokyo then traveling to Kyoto for a few days (incorporating a day trip to Osaka) then on to Hiroshima (incorporating a day trip to Miyajima) then back to Tokyo and the next day to Narita airport. We expect this to take a total of 10 days (setting off from Tokyo on 16th May and travelling to the airport on 25th May). Would it be more cost effective to buy individual tickets for each journey or get the JR Pass?

Thanks

Alexis

Hi there,

I think your best option is to purchase a 7-day JR Pass - you'll be making a lot of expensive shinkansen trips and the ferry to Miyajima is included with the pass, along with basic metro travel in Osaka and Tokyo via the Osaka loop line and the JR Yamanote line respectively. I would suggest having it active in the period between when you leave for Kyoto and then return to Tokyo, to ensure that all of your major train expenses are covered.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
