Hello,
My 3 adult children will be travelling around Japan from the 20th December to the 5th January, 2025.
20 Dec: Tokyo
24 Dec: Hakuba
27 Dec: Osaka
30 Dec: Kyoto
2nd Jan: Tokyo
What is the cheapest option for train travel?
JR pass for 14 days or individual bookings?
Is it easy to book tickets and get seats once we have activated our JR passes?
Is it possible to buy a regional pass for our trip and which one should we purchase?
Thanks in advance,
Louise
To JR pass or not?
Hello Louise,
The most cost-effective option for your itinerary would be to use the Hokuriku Arch Pass (7 days) from the 27th of December to the 2nd of January. You can use the single train tickets for the rest of your journey.
You can easily reserve seats once you arrive in Japan at any JR Train Station ticket office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or ticket machine using your pass.
Please find more information about the Hokuriku Arch Pass here.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Mariko
