Hello,

I am coming to Japan in 2 weeks for 2 weeks and don't know whether to buy a JR pass for 1 weeks or 2 weeks. I get into Narita airport and staying in Shenjuku & touring Tokyo for 4-5 days. I am then planning to go to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka etc for 7 days and then I come back to Tokyo to get my flight home.

With the above information, should I buy 1 week JR Pass or 2 weeks pass (as I have been told I can use it in Central Tokyo and from Narita airport)

Please let me know as soon as possible as I need to buy 4 tickets.

Thanks

Orly

Hi there!

Both the 7 day and 14 day JR Pass would offer great savings for the above trip. Looking at things economically I do think that your best bet would be to go for a 7 day JR Pass and be back in Tokyo when it expires, travel around the metropolis is not very pricey and the JR Pass is best suited for travel between different regions in Japan.

You could also consider the 14 day JR Pass if you would wish for more flexibility. For instance you could take some extra time in Kyoto or Hiroshima, or make a day trip from Tokyo for instance. I can confirm that the JR Pass does cover travel from the Airport to Tokyo station.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
