Hi there,
We are a family of four members. We will be traveling in Japan in June-July. If I understand correctly, we must activate the JRpass once in Japan at a train station, and after that reserve seats. Is it possible to activate the JRpass, reserve seats and travel on the same day? For example, in our case, activate the pass in Osaka on June 23, and reserve a seat to Tokyo for the same day, and make the trip.
Generally speaking, how far in advance would it be advisable to reserve seats in June and July?
Thanks and regards

Hi there,
Yes, that it certainly possible, and very often done. The summer period isn't as crowded as other period, but nevertheless is still a popular time for tourists, so I would recommend trying to make all or most of your seat reservations as soon as possible once you activate the JR Pass.
Hope this helps!
