I’m a Japanese citizen, with a US green card since 1985. I’ve lived outside of Japan for over 59 yrs. I would like to visit Japan 1/1/25 and purchase a JR Pass. It seems I need an exchange order to do so. How do I obtain one.

Hi there,
On our site, you are able to purchase a JR Pass here. You can choose the duration of the pass between a choice of 7, 14, and 21 days, and whether you want to travel in regular or upgraded (green) class. Once you make an order we can send you the exchange order by post so that you can take it to Japan when you need to. Because you’ll be travelling a while from now, my recommendation would be to wait until October/November to purchase your pass, as purchasing too early comes at the risk of the order expiring.
