Our itinerary is as follows:
April 21, 22 Kobe ( after arriving on cruise ship )
April 23, 24, 25 Kyoto
April 26, 27 Takayama
April 28, 29, 30, Tokyo
Could you please advise what trains to catch, from which stations and on which lines we will need to travel in order to complete this itinerary and make the best use of our JR Pass? We are a little confused. Thank you for your help.

Hi Barbara and welcome back!

I can certainly help, when you travel from Kobe to Kyoto - I would recommend taking the Shinkaisoku from Sannomiya station directly to Kyoto, this train departs every 10-15 minutes and takes about 60 minutes to reach Kyoto.

From Kyoto - Takayama, take the bullet train from Kyoto station to Nagoya, at Nagoya station transfer to the Hida wide view express bound for Takayama. The last part to Takayama is especially scenic and worth travelling by itself.

From Takayama - Tokyo, take the Wide view express back to Nagoya, from there you can take the Bullet train directly to Tokyo station.

All lines are covered by the JR Pass!

Hope this helps!
Daniel
