Greetings. I see in the blog that the recommended procedure is to buy a pass online prior to travelling to Japan and it is sent to the customer. Then one activates at an exchange once in Japan and at that point can reserve seats. However, I see at a site https://www.japanrailpass-reservation.net/ that there might be an online option to buy and reserve seats at the same time online in advance of travel, then pick up the pass at an exchange office. Is that correct or is this not a legit JPR website address.

Hi there,
The link you mentioned is the official JR website.
While online seat reservations are not currently available for tickets purchased through JRPass.com, you can easily reserve seats once you arrive in Japan at any JR Train Station ticket office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or ticket machine.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Mariko
