Hi me and ny friends are spending two weeks in japan this coming February. We will be traveling from Osaka-Kyoto-Izu-mt Fiji-Tokyo n will hopefully be spending the last 7 days in Tokyo. We are unsure as to whether we should get the 7 day Japanese rail ticket or if we should get the two week Japanese rail ticket, as the last 7 days will b purely spent in Tokyo. Do you think it is possible to do that journey in a week and if so, what length railcard so you think would be best for us? Also is there anywhere else u would suggest us visiting?

Hi there!
Right now I'd advise buying either a 7 day JR Pass or normal tickets. Traveling from Osaka/Kyoto - Tokyo with a stop over at Izu and Fuji would not pay for a 7 day JR Pass. What you could do is change your itinerary a little, for instance a visit to Hiroshima and Miyajima would be a great option, or you could swing by Takayama before going to Tokyo to enjoy some of traditional Japan. A 7 day JR Pass would really pay of by doing so.
I would also recommend visiting Fuji as a day trip when you are in Tokyo instead of making a stop on the route from Izu. This because Fuji is best reached via Tokyo. You can find more information on how to visit Fuji here.
Lastly, consider making a day visit to Nikko from Tokyo. The area is one of the most impressive in Japan!
Have a great trip!
Daniel
Thank you so much for your advice. Hope much do you think the total cost of our original route would be if we got normal tickets?
Hi again!
I'd be more than happy to give you an estimate. To do so could you please tell me what area around Mt. Fuji you plan to visit, also it would be a great help if you tell me what you would like to visit around Izu, this because I will have to look up the stations for both areas.
