Hello. I'm planning to go to Tottori Sand Dune then getting to Mt. Daisen area to tour Hana Kairo Park and Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato the next days. Does JR Pass cover these routes and another areas around Mt.Daisen? Thanks in advance!

Wow thank you Mari that's a great help! I really had no clue on which station I should go :)
I have a few more questions, Mari.

  1. I notice at the link that there is a limited express train I should take (super oki, yakumo, super matsukaze) Do I need to pay for the ltd express fee?
  2. I see that Hokimizoguchi is the nearest station to Hanakairo. What do you think is the best way to reach Hanakairo? Is there a bus I can take or should I just walk the way?
  3. Is JR lines available to reach Milk no Sato (as from Hokimizoguchi to Hanakairo at least) and to trip around Mt.Daisen? Or maybe there are local bus I can take? I really want to discover this area but havent find enough infos since it's kind of off the beaten path. So any advices would be highly appreciated :)

No problem!

Here are some answers for you:

  1. No - you do not have to pay any extra fees with the Japan Rail Pass.
  2. Actually, I did a little searching and I think the best way is for you to go to Yonago station. From there there is a free shuttle bus to the Hanakairo park. Here is the shuttle bus timetable from the official website.
  3. The official Daisen tourism website has got some good information on getting around Mt Daisen and how to get to Mt Daisen from Yonago (which looks like the best place to be based from).

Hope this helps!
