Hello - Our family, three adults, will arrive to Kansai airport on June 2014 for two days before going to the cruise at Kobe port. We don't know where to stay for two days, Osaka or Kyoto, and definitely will stay at Ryokan. Please let us know which city is the better place for jrpass access to Kobe cruise port. Thank you.

Osaka or Kyoto for two days?
Hi there,
Staying in Kyoto or Osaka is a bit of a classic, both cities have lot's to offer. It really comes down to your own preference.
Kyoto is a city with a lot of history, culture and tradition behind it. Even today it is the cultural capital of Japan with a wide range of temples, park and traditional buildings, such as the Gion Geisha Quarter. You can find more about Kyoto here.
Osaka is much more a metropolis with a lot of people. The city always feels lively and is always alive. You may find more people active during the night in areas such as Namba than by day. Osaka is also home to many modern buildings and areas.
I hope this helps!

Thank you, Daniel. Please advise if the JR Pass travel between Kyoto and Osaka, and can it be used to Kobe cruise port?
If from Osaka city to Kobe cruise port, which is the best transportation with 5 luggages?
Thank you again for your time.
Hi Again,
There's a free shuttle service available from Kobe cruise port to the city center and the Motomachi JR Station. Depending on your luggage, it may be better to take a taxi instead.
From Kobe you can use the JR Pass to travel to Osaka, there are different stations throughout Kobe and Osaka. The most central station in Kobe is Sannomiya, from there you can take a direct train to Osaka station.
Hope this helps you too!
Daniel
