Open hour for JR office in the Narita Airport

Hi Ling!

The JR Office at Narita Airport is open between 6:30 and 21:45.

As for trains running to Tokyo, the last train connection with the JR leaves Narita Airport at 22:16. You can also take the Keisei line which has a last service running at 22:29.

Can I exchange JR pass in the U.S. Before I take off to Tokyo?

My plane will arrive at 9:00 pm and after passing though customs and other government agencies, it will be about 10;00pm( that is my guess). The JR ticket office is closed at 9:45pm.

If I can get the pass before arriving at the airport I can use the pass to catch the last train to Tokyo.
Pleas advise, thanks.

Hi Ling!

Unfortunately you can also activate/exchange the JR pass when you land in Japan. However you may want to wait for it until the next day because the usage period is counted in days, so you would use up one whole day just to get to Tokyo. The fare is ¥ 1,280 by local train which should not be too much.

The fare is covered by the JR Pass in case that you do activate it on arrival.

Hi Ling、

The last local JR train connection departs at 22:16. There are still buses going to Tokyo after this but I think that you should have enough time to catch it.

I have another questions as I'm doing some research about the schedule of trains, I'm going to Kyoto from Tokyo. I had research the schedule and found out the Shinkansen train (bullet train) from Tokyo to Kyoto run by Nozomi, see below: JR pass is not valid for NoZomi, right? Ling

Sorry for the late replay, it was a very hectic day here.

The Nozomi unfortunately is not covered by the JR Pass but you can take the Hikari train instead, This train is exactly the same as the Nozomi but makes a couple more stops on the way.
