My husband and I will be travelling to Japan for 4 days, we are planning to visit Tokyo and Kyoto for 2 days in each place. Is it worth to get a 7 day JR pass. Can we use the pass back and forth from the Narita airport to Tokyo?
Thanks
Sonya

Hi Sonya,

A 7 day JR Pass will certainly be worth it. It would cover both your travel to Kyoto and the return to Narita Airport. Making for some good savings.

I've made a small list below with normal ticket prices to give you an idea of possible savings.

Narita Airport - Tokyo ¥ 2,940
Tokyo - Kyoto ¥ 13,220
Kyoto - Osaka ¥ 540
Osaka - Kyoto ¥ 540
Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 13,220
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 2,940

For a total of ¥ 33,400 the 7 day JR Pass is 28,300 saving you (and your husband) ¥ 5,100 each. In addition you can also use the JR Pass on local JR lines in Tokyo and around Kyoto adding even more to your savings.

Happy travels,
Daniel
