On Saturday, 18th of August, we are planning to go from Tokyo Narita Aiport to Kyoto in the morning. We are buying Jr pass. How should we go there and is able for us to get the seats?

Also, Sunday 19th of August at night we are going to Ishikawa from Kyoto. Is it possible to go without any problem, or do we have to book the seats ?

Hi there!

From Narita to Kyoto, you should follow this itinerary. You can reserve seats on arrival for your trip as I'm sure there will be availability. Please note that the Narita Express is reserved seatings only so you will have to reserve seats before you travel (free for JR Pass holders).

If by Ishikawa you mean the prefecture Ishikawa (which has Kanazawa as a city), then you should have no problems either using non-reserved seating, or reserving a seat on the next train once you arrive at the station. Here are some sample itineraries from Kyoto to Kanazawa on the evening of the 19th.

You can look up train timetables and costs for all of your legs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.

Hope this helps!
