MY FRIENDS AND I ARE GOING TO JAPAN THIS NOVEMBER AND WE PLAN ON A DAY TRIP FROM TOKYO TO MT. FUJI THEN ON THE LATE AFTERNOON TO GO KYOTO. WOULD LIKE TO ASK THE BEST ROUTE? AND IS IT OK TO LEAVE LATE IN THE AFTERNOON OR EARLIER?

Hi Jon,
It is about 3 hours travel from Tokyo to Kyoto using the Hikari Shinkansen directly. I do recommend departing Tokyo station around 5pm, so it's not too late when you arrive in Kyoto.
