I want to go from matsumato to takayama by using my JR railwayy pas
I see only this 2 trips, one from matsumato to Nagoya and to takayama ( 5 houres)
one from matsumato to tajimi and than minota and than takayama ( 5 houres)
is there an other option with the JR PASS because five hours is to long

The trip Matsumoto to Takayama is indeed about 5 hours by rail. There is no faster route because there are mountains in the way.
It is however a very scenic route and time will fly by faster than you may think.
