Hi there!

You've got multiple option when visiting Fuji, the mountain can be approached from different routes and has some very interesting area's. The most popular region is Fuji Five Lakes, of which this first is called Kawaguchiko. To get here, take the Shinkansen to Tokyo station, from there take the JR to Otsuki from where you can take the (non JR) Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko.

An other option is to visit Hakone, to get here, take the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Odawara station. From which you can explore the area. Hakone is a very beautiful area and takes a lot less time to get to. It is somewhat further away from Fuji than Kawaguchiko.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
