Is it possible to use the JR Pass inside Tokyo, in the subway?
JRPass inside Tokyo
Hi Fabio,
The Rail Pass can be used on JR lines in Tokyo, the most useful of which is the JR Yamanote line, which is a loop that travels through Tokyo. Here is a map of JR lines in Tokyo you can use with the rail pass.
The JR Pass cannot be used however on the Metro/subway, which is operated by a private company. The subway is pretty cheap, and you can ride it using either separate tickets or a prepaid card called Pasmo or Suica (there are 2 types of prepaid card).
You can find more about using the subway here and the pasmo/suica prepaid metro cards here.
Hope this helps!
