Hi there,

Here is a breakdown of your travel costs for comparison with the cost of a 7 day rail pass:

  1. Kansai airport > Nagoya: ¥8270, (137mins, 247km)
  2. Nagoya > Kawarada: ¥740, (44mins, 44km)
  3. Kawarada > Nagoya: ¥740, (47mins, 44km)
  4. Nagoya > Kawarada: ¥740, (44mins, 44km)
  5. Kawarada > Nagoya: ¥740, (47mins, 44km)
  6. Nagoya > Kawarada: ¥740, (44mins, 44km)
  7. Kawarada > Nagoya: ¥740, (47mins, 44km)
  8. Nagoya > Tokyo: ¥10580, (106mins, 366km)
  9. Tokyo > Kansai airport: ¥14800, (266mins, 613km)

JR ticket cost: ¥38090 for 9 legs

  • 07 day rail pass (¥28,300) saving: ¥9790

As you can see you'll make good minimum savings of ¥9790 with a 7 day rail pass in addition to having freedom to do any further JR travel for free. You can also make good use of the rail pass on the JR lines around Tokyo. I can certainly recommend the JR Pass for your itinerary.

Getting to and from Suzuka Circuit from Nagoya with JR Pass

To get to Suzuka circuit from Nagoya you should aim to get to JR Kawarada near the Suzuka circuit with your Japan Rail Pass (sample itinerary). From Kawarada station you'll need to use the local non-JR Ise Testudo operated line to get to Suzuka Circuit Ino (sometimes written 'SuzukaSakittoIno' (sample itinerary). As this is not covered by the rail pass you will have to pay the standard ticket fare of ¥300 each way. From Suzuka Circuit Ino you can easily walk to the circuit.

You can look up precise train timetables and costs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for JR Pass holders through our video blog.

Hope this helps!
