JR Rail Pass to Hakone and Takayama

Hi
I will be taking day trips to Hakone and Hida from tokyo
Do I need a JR rail pass to get to these locations ?

Hi there!

For Hakone, you can use the JR Pass as far as Odawara station. From here you'll need to transfer to the non-JR Odakyu lines to take you upto and around Hakone itself.

Assuming you mean Hida-Takayama, then yes, you can use JR and the JR Pass to visit Takayama with no problems.
