Hi,

I was just hoping to obtain some advice to see whether or not it would be worth getting a JR pass.
1. Osaka (3 nights)
2. Kyoto (1 night)
3. Tokyo (6 nights)
4. Hakuba (4 nights)

And flying back out of Narita airport.

We plan to do a day trips here and there within Osaka and Tokyo. I'm hoping the JR pass allows us to jump on a shinkasen from Kyoto to Tokyo.

I would think it would be convenient to have a JR pass but will it be economical? :P

Thanks!

Hi Kaze,

The JR Pass is certainly usable on the Shinkansen between Osaka and Tokyo, it's very convenient too but it may not be economic in this case. The price for a one way ticket Kyoto - Tokyo is ¥ 13,020. The only way I could see a 7 day JR Pass pay off is if you could add your return Tokyo - Hakuba as well. This would require some rescheduling however.
Otherwise I would say buy normal tickets as you travel.

Hope this helps :)
