Hi,

I am heading to Japan in February for 14 days and would like to know if its better value for money to purchase a JR Pass or to pay as I travel around Tokyo.

My itinerary is as follows:

14/2/13 - Tokyo Narita airport to city
14 & 15/2/13 sitesee around Tokyo
16/2/13 - Tokyo to Hakuba
22/2/13 - Hakuba to Kyoto
23/2/13 - Kyoto to Tokyo
25/2/13 - Tokyo city to Narita airport

Appreciate any and all advice,

thanks

Hi Bluebecky,

I would recommend buying tickets as you travel. The JR Pass would help you make savings if you could at least do Tokyo - Hakuba - Kyoto - Tokyo in 7 days. However since you have the luxury of extra time to spend in Hakuba it would not be possible to make good use of the JR Pass.

Enjoy the Snow!
Daniel
