I will be in Japan from June 10th to June 19th. I want to get 7 days JR Pass. How can I activate the JR Pass on the 12 or 13 so my 7 days cover my trips on train?? When I get the Exchange Order? When I arrive to Japan, I need my passport, Driver License ID (or permanent resident card?) and the Exchange Order. So what I need to do to use the JR Pass not when I arrive but days later when I start to use the service?

Hi there,
You can activate the pass with the exchange order once in Japan, at a JR ticket office found inside JR-operated stations. My suggestion would be to take the exchange order to your nearest station (could be Narita or Haneda) and set an activation date with the orders for the 12th or 13th, so that you can begin making seat reservations in advance for the period that the JR Pass will be active for. This sorts out reservations and ensures that you find seats on the trains you want to use, especially for Shinkansen.
Kind regards,
Alexis
