Hi thanks for this helpful forum.
I'm travelling to Tokyo 27th March.
Itinerary as follows:-
Tokyo 2 nights
Kyoto 2 nights
Osaka 1 night (partner arrives to join me)
Koyasan 1 night
Hiroshima 2 nights
Kyoto 2 more nights
Hakone 1 night
Tokyo 1 night
Questions:-
1) I'm considering purchasing a one week JR pass and buying extra tickets or better to buy a 2 week pass?
2) is it straightforward to get to Koyasan and to Hakone?
Many thanks

Hi there, apologies for the late reply!

A one week pass + individual tickets may overall be cheaper, but purchasing a two-week pass would make things a lot more straightforward, and so it's up to what you choose to prioritise.

You can get to Koyasan via bus from Koyaguchi Station, and to Hakone by bus from Odawara station. The JR Pass includes travel to Koyaguchi and Odawara, but you'll have to purchase the bus tickets, which are very cheap so this shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
