Hi! We will be 3 people travelling in Japan for 23 days, from Jan 2 (arriving in the afternoon in Tokyo)-25 (departing in the afternoon from Tokyo). A mix of daytrips and longer trips to other cities.
Practically, I should get the 21-day JR Pass, which means the remaining 2 days should be day tickets?
This also means that the 21-day JR pass would only cover 1 Narita Express ticket, and I would need to purchase for the other journey. Do you propose another alternative ticket that would help maximize my trip? I also see the day 1 (Jan 2) and the last day Jan 25 would be a bit of loss days for the JR pass.

Hello there,

If you just miss 2 days of coverage, already with a 21-day JR Pass, then I'd just buy normal tickets for the remainder of your trip. There are discount options available to Narita Airport, so you should be good on that front.

You can also take a local train to Narita Airport which starts at around 1.200yen one way or even an express bus, at a similar price.

Kind regards,
Daniel
