Hi there,
I would like to know how to buy a ticket for a non JR train.
I have a 21 day pass which I will be using a lot, but some of my trips include non JR trains eg: I will be going from Shinimamiya to Cosmosquare and then back to Shinimamiya. Part of that journey is covered on my JR Pass but not all of it. Do I have to buy the ticket at the start of the journey i.e at Shinimamiya or at the station where I change to the non JR train?
Thanks
Mel
How to buy tickets for non JR trains?
Hi there,
When you transfer to non-JR lines, you'll leave the JR zone through the manned ticket gate, and will need to pass through a subsequent non-JR ticket gate to access non-JR lines. In front of the non-JR gates you'll find a ticket office and ticket machines for use of the non-JR line. To save you always purchasing tickets, you can purchase a prepaid card that is accepted on many non-JR lines - in Osaka I recommend the PiTaPa card, and in Tokyo the PASMO card, both of which are available for purchase at metro and non-JR stations in the cities.
Hope this helps!
Thank you
