Green Seat JR Pass and Nozomi

Hello,

Recently, I was told that if one purchases a Green Seat JR pass, then one is able to ride the Nozomi rather than the Hikari . Is this true? And if so, can one also reserve a Green Seat on a Nozomi? Besides the luxury, I was also told there are other benefits such as trains offered in the Kyushu area where one can ride only if one has a Green Seat JR pass? Again, is this true?

Finally, can you please provide the links to the daily JR Shinkensen Schedule for Tokyo all the way to Kagoshima, Tokyo to Sendai and all JR local hotels, JR boat & bus rides information.

Hi there!

I'm afraid you were misinformed about the Nozomi. The Green Pass entitles the holder to use the Green Car on all valid shinkansen, which exclues the Nozomi and Mizuho classes. There is an excellent Green car service on the new Sakura shinkansen however, which operates between Osaka and Kagoshima and is valid for JR Pass holders.

I'm not aware of any trains which are Green seating only - there are trains in Kyushu such as the SL Hitoyoshi and Aso Boy which are normally more expensive than standard trains, but these are valid for both normal and green car JR Pass holders.
