I will be traveling from Narita airport to Tokyo. Tokyo to Mt. Fuji. Tokyo to Kyoto. Kyoto to Hiroshima. I will be going from July 22 to Aug 1st. Will it be worth getting green pass? Money is no problem, but i read that some trains do not have green cars... Just want to know if trains on my trips will have green cars

Hi,
According to this link::
http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en004.html

Most JR trains have Ordinary Cars (coach class) while many long-distance trains also offer Green Cars (superior class). With a Green-type JAPAN RAIL PASS you can use either class, while with an Ordinary-type JAPAN RAIL PASS you can use only Ordinary Cars without paying an additional charge. Refer to the table2 below for details.

A few years ago, my husband and I travelled around JP using the Green pass.
* Easier to make reservation - less crowded * More leg room, * have ladies turning up with the cart handing out wet wipes * best of all, not smoky

To see which lines have Green Cars, refer to the table:

Happy Travelling.

Hi Andy,

Yes, I do think that a Green Class would be worth it for your travel. August can be a busy travel month and you will be taking the train quite a lot. The only part that may not have a green seat available is Tokyo - Mt. Fuji, all others do and especially the part to Hiroshima with the Kyushu Shinkansen is very nice (I would make reservations for this route in advance as seats are limited).

It's always great to read other travelers accounts like Gonta's, had wash towels are regularly served and especially the extra quiet is very relaxing.

I hope this helps,
Daniel

Does the Kyushu shinkansen travel from Kyoto to Hiroshima? Does it have another name as the Hyperdia website does not show it. Thanks.

Hi Again,

The Kyushu Shinkansen I was referring to is called the Sakura. You will have a tranfer at Shin-Osaka when you travel from Kyoto to Hiroshima. You can ride the Sakura from Shin-Osaka, which is about 90% of the trip.
