I am going to Sapporo from Ueno using JR Cassiopeia ( Sleeping Car).
Can I use JR Pass for the JR Cassiopeia?
Thank you!

Hi there,

The JR Pass will only cover the basic line fare for the Cassiopeia of ¥12,500. You'll need to pay the express and birth fees on top of this (from ¥21500 up).

The JR Pass is fully valid for travel on the Akebono sleeper goron-to-shiito cars (carpeted area with sheet) that will take you as far as Aomori from Ueno (though there will be a small charge for a non-JR strech of line between Morioka and Aomori.

Hope this helps!
