We are a family of 5 planning to visit Kobe and Tokyo in the first week of January, 2014.
We plan to arrive in Osaka and then travel to Kobe. The duration of the stay between these 2 cities is around 4 days.
From there onwards, we plan to go Tokyo for 3 days. Our return flight is scheduled from Osaka.
Will the JRPass a good option for us to travel or buying the tickets locally will be a better option.
Thanks for any suggestions/advise.
Regards
Vijay

Hi Vijay,
A JR Pass would work out well for your travels. The 7 day JR Pass is roughly the same prices as the price for a normal return ticket Osaka - Tokyo by Shinkansen. Any additional travel you may do, basically is what you save! For instance you can use the JR Pass on the local JR Network in addition in Osaka and Tokyo, so it's a very convenient to travel around. You can also use the JR Pass to travel to Kobe!
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Thanks Daniel.
Do we also have apartments to rent for short stays in Japan? Is that something which is popular?
Hi Again,
Yes there are apartments you can rent of short terms, usually a week is minimum though when use an agency. Recently AirBnB has become more popular, so you could give that a try and rent directly from the locals.
