So, 3 in our family - looking at the JR Pass 14 day regular Y45100. We arrive from USA on 7 Aug 3pm then head straight to Tokyo, then work our way back to Osaka, arriving back 8.20 and fly out 8.24. I note in Lonely Planet that I can pick up the pass at KIX.
My question here is: can we catch JR train straight from KIX towards Tokyo, or must take another train into Osaka first?

To get to Tokyo from KIX, you'll need to catch the train into Shin-Osaka or Kyoto and then transfer to a bullet train. Here's a sample itinerary for you.
