Hello,

Our family of 5 (all ages 12 and up) is visiting Japan for 17 days this summer. Our itinerary is as follows. Can we make it work with only a 14 day JRPass, or should we get a 21? What are the best ways for us to travel to each location?

Day 1: Arrive at Haneda and travel to Shibuya
Days 2-3: Tokyo
Day 4: Travel to Kanazawa
Day 5: Kanazawa
Day 6: Travel to Shirakawago
Day 7: Travel to Takayama
Day 8: Travel to Kyoto
Day 9-11: Kyoto
Day 12: Travel to Hiroshima, ferry to Miyajima
Day 13: Miyajima
Day 14: Travel from Miyajima to Tokyo (Asakusa)
Days 15-16: Tokyo
Day 17: To Haneda, flight home

Thank you so much for your help! We are looking forward to our upcoming travels.

Lauren

Hi there,

Yes, a 14-day pass would work for you as you wouldn't need to have the pass active when you spend time in Tokyo as it is likely to be a more cost-effective option if you begin using it on day 4. This means that you'll have to purchase tickets from Haneda to Shibuya separately, but the overall cost would be cheaper.

Kind regards,

Alexis
