Hi,

I’m wondering if I need a JR pass for a 13D trip itinerary.
Flying in to Osaka (KIX) > Kyoto > Hiroshima > Osaka. Staying about 4 nights in each city, maybe just 1 or 2 day trips - Okunoshima (rabbit island) from Hiroshima and Arashiyama (bamboo forest) from Kyoto. Rest of the time will be staying within the city for sightseeing.

Is the JR pass useable for subway travel within the city?

And if I need the JR pass, would it be the Kansai Hiroshima Area pass? It’s really expensive and I hope I can fully utilise it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I would recommend using the Kansai Hiroshima Pass for your trip. It would be a much better fit and more budget friendly.

The subway is not included in any JR Pass but you can use local JR lines where available.

Kind regards,
Daniel
