I am intending travelling from Narai via Nagano to Kanazawa on a JR east pass (5 days use within 14 days). I understand that I will join JR east area at Shiojiri and leave it at Joestsumyko. Please advise how I can pay for the fares not covered by JR East Pass.

Hi there,
You can do so at the station when you arrive, just show the pass at the gate and pay the fare difference there.
