Hi,

We are coming to Japan next month and still don't know what the best transport option is for us. Should we buy a 14 day JR Pass or would you recommend using a regional pass? If so, what one?

Our trip is:
Toyko 9th - 13th
Osaka 13th - 15th
Hiroshima 15th - 16th
Kyoto 16th - 19th
Nagano 19th - 21st
Tokyo 21st - 23rd.

Really appreciate any advice you can give :)

Hi Katie,

In terms of a JR Pass, the only pass that makes sense would be a 14-day JR Pass. As there is no other pass that covers all of this and has the right amount of days.

The only thing to check would be how much you make use of it. If you plan to do a few day trips out of Tokyo or elsewhere, then the pass could quickly add a lot of extra value.

Happy travels,
Daniel
