Hi

Myself and my wife are planning on traveling in Japan for 5 days and was wondering if we would benefit in buying a JR pass. We plan on travelling from Narita airport to Tokyo for 1 night and then from Tokyo to Kyoto, returning to Kyoto 2 days later, and back to Narita airport the following day.

Hope you can help,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I think savings are to be had here, even though you will make a fast trip.

Here's why
Narita Airport - Tokyo ¥ 3,140
Tokyo - Kyoto ¥ 13,420
Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 13,420
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 3,140

This adds up to ¥ 33,120 the 7 day JR Pass is 28,300 so you would save ¥ 4,820. The JR Pass is also valid for local trains in Tokyo, so it would probably a little higher if you use it to travel around Tokyo.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
