Good afternoon:

My 2 friends and I are going to travel to Japan next mid March and we are checking if it's valuable to purchase the 7 days JRPass or not. The pass should be activated on the 15th March. These will be our planned trips:

  1. From Kyoto to Miyajima island (15th March)
  2. Miyajima island to Hiroshima (15th March).
  3. Hiroshima to Kyoto (15th March).
  4. Kyoto to Nagoya (18th March).
  5. Nagoya to Ghibli Park (one of the trips include the pass I think) (19th March).
  6. Ghibli Park back to Nagoya (19th March).
  7. Nagoya to Kawaguchiko (19th March).
  8. Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku (21st March).

Greetings.

Hi there,

Yes, for your itinerary a JR Pass would be a good idea, but it would have to be supplemented by two extra bus tickets - this is because Kawaguchiko is not directly accessible by JR trains, so you'd have to get a bus/local train from a nearby station. My suggestion would be to purchase a bus ticket from Shin-Fuji station, for two reasons: a) it is a direct journey from Nagoya station on the Tokaido Shinkansen, and b) it is then a direct Shinkansen trip to Tokyo - because you'll have a JR Pass, you can take advantage of the fact that you'll be able to use the Shinkansen trains as much as you want.

Kind regards,

Alexis
