Good morning,

We'll be arriving in Narita on 19th December 2024 and following the itinerary noted below. Is a JR pass the best for us or should we get regional one/s?

19th Dec Narita to Nagano
23rd Dec Nagano to Nagoya
24th Dec Nagoya to Osaka
Day trip to Hiroshima 26th Dec
Day trip to Kyoto 27th Dec
29th Dec Osaka to Hakone
31st Dec Hakone to Tokyo (Ueno)
Travel within Tokyo until 6th Jan when we fly from Narita.

Due to the timing of our travel, can we prebook our seats from Australia, or do we need to wait until we arrive in Japan? We will be travelling with our luggage so can we book additional room for luggage?

And finally, can we book seats online?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Yes, a JR Pass would suit your itinerary considering that you’ll be mostly travelling via Shinkansen trains. Unfortunately you won’t be able to book online or in advance as you’ll have to have activated the JR Pass already to begin making reservations. You can also book specific seats that have extra luggage space when reserving your tickets.

Kind regards,

Alexis
