I arrive this sunday 24th nov at 1845hours is it clearly marked at airport where train station is. Do I go to tokyo by train then get shinkansen bullet train to kyoto. How long will this take. Do these trains leave every 30 minutes even overnight. We are staying in Kyoto for a week what do you suggest we do, can I use my rail pass there. cheers Dianne
travel narita airport to kyoto
Hi there!
The last train departing from Narita Airport to Kyoto which is possible with the JRPass leaves at 18:48 from Narita Airport. This makes for a bit of a difficult situation. You could take a later train connection using a Nozomi - leaving at 19:46 - which is the last train connection available. Even this may however be short time in case of a flight delay.
I would suggest staying around Narita Airport or go to Tokyo to spend the first night there and travel on the next morning to Kyoto. The route to Kyoto is via Tokyo in any event, so this may be the best possibility.
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Hi
Is there accomadation at Narita airport. What accomadation would you suggest either Narita or Tokyo. What trains and time would I take if I left for Kyoto the next day on the 25/11. How long will it take to get to Kyoto and would I need to change trains. cheers Dianne
Hi Again,
There are plenty of hotels near Narita Airport but I would suggest going to Tokyo since you have some time and it could be nice to walk around Tokyo in the evening. The next morning trains to Kyoto start running at 6 a.m. and leave every 30min or so, so you could go to Tokyo station and any moment and resume your journey. It takes an other 140-160 minutes from Tokyo to reach Kyoto directly by bullet train.
