Hi all,

Looking to come to Japan in November. Our plan is:

Arrive at HND airport on the 6th November:
6th to 8th - Kamakura
8th to 10th - Kanazawa
10th to 12th - Kyoto
12th to 14th - Hiroshima
14th to 16th - Osaka
16th to 18th - Hakone
18th to 19th - Tokyo

What is the most cost effective way to travel around all these locations please. We are also looking to go first class if possible.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Regards

Greg

Hi Greg,

A Green Class14-day JR Pass is likely to be the best option for you if you plan to go first-class wherever possible. It’ll cover the majority of your itinerary and will likely be your most cost-effective option compared to purchasing individually.

Please note that travel to Hakone is not entirely covered by the JR Pass, as the local trains that connect it to Odawara are privately owned. My suggestion would be to take the Shinkansen from Osaka towards Tokyo as usual and alight at Odawara, where you can purchase a return ticket for Hakone. Compared to the price of train tickets for the rest of your itinerary this is very reasonably cheap so no need to worry about lots of additional costs piling up.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
