Hello and thank you for answering so many questions!

Could you please confirm if the 7 day JR rail pass is recommended for the following itinerary:

8 Jan: Tokyo to Hakodate
10 Jan: Hakodate to Noboribetsu
12 Jan: Noboribetsu to Kitayuzawa
14 Jan: Kitayuzawa to Niseko

Thanks again

Hi there,

The 7-day JR Pass is about the same price as a one way ticket, Tokyo - Sapporo. Now, you go up a little less, but the stop-overs do add extra costs without a JR Pass. As such, I do think the JR Pass is recommended here. Especially, since you can add as many stop overs as you'd like and once you have the pass, there you will not have to worry about any further fares.

The JR Pass also covers the fastest bullet train in Japan, the Hayabusa, that connects Tokyo with Hokkaido.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
