Hello

First time to travel to Japan during the Golden week so need your help please.
I will be purchasing my JR pass and would like to clarify these:

  1. Can I reserve seats from my home country? or should I be doing on arrival in Japan?

  2. Is it easy to transfer trains from Tokyo to Fukuoka?

I understand that from Tokyo the train stops in Osaka or Kyoto station (?) then need to hop on another train to Fukuoka.

Would this be quick and easy to navigate? like same platforms? or do I need to find my way to the other train?

Many thanks Daniel San for your help :-)

Hi there!

1.) We don't offer the option yet to reserve seats online through JRPass.com. You can make seat reservations once you arrive in Japan and have activated the JR Pass.

2.) Yes, transfers are well thought out in Japan. Just follow the signs to what track number you need to be at for your next train and all will be well. In general, just focus on the signs (and don't get distracted by all the wonderful things Japan has to offer).

For the transfer, it will likely be at Shin-Kobe but depends on time of time and what actual trans you will travel on. The JR Staff will find the best option for you.

Kind regards,
Daniel
