Hi
I will be travelling to Hakone for day trip , then to osaka (2 days) - kyoto (2 days) - karuizawa(1 night) and back to tokyo.. is a 7 days JR pass the best option?
Is the JR pass can be used to go Hakone and Karuizawa? If yes, which one is the best to use JR pass since I can only choose one out of the 2 because it expires on 7th day.

Yes, I think the 7 day Japan Rail Pass would be the best option here. It covers the full route you plan to travel and help you make savings at the same time.
I would start using the JR Pass from the day that you leave Hakone and travel to Kyoto. You can use the JR Pass later to Karuizawa.
