Hello, we will be travelling to Japan for 2 weeks. We will travel from Tokyo to Nozawa Onsen. From here I would like to know if it is ideal to travel from Nozawa to Kyoto via Kanazawa, stay in Kyoto 3 nights then back to Tokyo via Fuji. Should we stay in Kanazawa on the way to Kyoto? And would a Rail Pass be worth it for us? We have 2 adults, 2 children (1 child would be adult prices at 12 years old) I am unsure if we will use local train services once we are in the cities/destinations.
Tokyo - Nozawa - Kyoto via Kanazawa - Tokyo via Fuji
Hi there,
I would recommend staying in Kanazawa as well. It's a beautiful city with a rich history, stunning gardens, and a vibrant cultural scene. To learn more about what Kanazawa has to offer, you can check out this destination guide.
The JR Pass is a great way to travel throughout Japan, eliminating the hassle of paying for each individual train journey. With a JR Pass, you can enjoy unlimited travel on most JR trains, including the Shinkansen bullet trains. I highly recommend it for your trip!
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
Mariko
